Αρχικά ο James Cameron είχε σαν στόχο να είναι το project μετά τα Avatar. Το Alita: Battle Angel όμως τελικά το έδωσε στα χέρια του Robert Rodiguez και έτσι το Cyberpunk manga ετοιμάστηκε.
