Ο υπεύθυνος της Sony Europe λέει πως εταιρία θα αλλάξει το επιχειρίν της στην αγορά του gaming και θα μπει στην εποχή του cross-platform.
Αυτό σημαίνει πως η εποχή του PlayStation made by Sony με παιχνίδια “approved by Sony” που δεν λειτουργούν π.χ σε ένα μηχάνημα Android αλλάζει και μιλάμε για “cross-platform functionality.¨”
Ο κος Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Jim Ryan, μίλησε στο MCV: “[The] old model of these very siloed platforms is breaking down a bit,” είπε ο κος Ryan, “PS2 was not a connected device. PSP was not really a proper connected device. PS3 is and PS Vita most definitely is. So we have the ability now to have devices talk to each other. We are having to reset a lot of our thinking. And I am enjoying that. But it is a challenge, because we’ve been pushing PS1, PS2, and PS3, basically the same way, and then all of a sudden we are like ‘You have to forget that and think differently.’”
Έτσι για παράδειγμα το Dust 514, first-person shooter με βάση το MMO EVE Online, όπως το δημιούργημα της Valve Portal 2, επιτρέπει PC gamers και κονσόλες να παίζουν μαζί.
Η Sony αγόρασε και την cloud-based streaming video game εταιρία Gaikai και αυτό ΚΑΤΙ έχει να πει και για το PlayStation 4 σε σχέση με το streaming.
Υπάρχει δε ήδη και το PlayStation Mobile για Sony games ΚΑΙ σε PlayStation Vita και σε Google Android tablets και κινητά ενώ η μάχη θα είναι σκληρή πλέον με το gaming να αλλάζει…
