Ναι, θεωρητικά τα tablet είναι νέα κατηγορία, αλλά θα ξεπεράσουν ΚΑΙ τα έσοδα από app σε σχέση με τις app σε πέντε χρόνια.
Την πρόβλεψη κάνει η ABI Research που προβλέπει πως τα tablets φέτος θα έχουν το ένα τρίτο (35%) των εσόδων από app φέτος, που σημαίνει $8.8 δις από τα $25 δις.
Ηγούνται δε ακόμη τα smartphones που θα αποκτήσουν $16.4 δις σε app φέτος ενώ η ABI πιστεύει πως τα tablets θα ξεπεράσουν τα smartphones σε έσοδα από app το 2018.

“The larger screen makes apps and content look and feel better, so there are more lucrative opportunities,” λέει ο αναλυτής κος Aapo Markkanen, ”One might think that the bigger installed base of smartphones would compensate for the disparity, but that notion fails to take into account the arrival of low-cost tablets, which hasn’t even started yet at its earnest. The smartphones paved the way for them, but in the end we believe that it’s the tablets that will prove the more transformative device segment of the two.”
Ο αναλυτής περιμένει δε και πως η κατηγορία των tablet θα ‘μεγαλώσει’ όλη την κατηγορία του computing αφού θα αγγίξει και κατηγορίες όπως οι ηλικιωμένοι και τα παιδιά: “The really big deal about tablets is how they will help to finally bring the computing age to, for instance, children and the elderly,” λέει ο κος Markkanen. ”The business opportunity associated with them is undeniable, but at the same they can also bring about very significant social benefits.”
Όσο για τα λειτουργικά, η ABI δίνει στο Apple iOS οικοσύστημα το 65% των $25 δις για το iOS και το 27% για το Google Android.
Οι δε “the other mobile platforms” θα έχουν το 8%.
Στα δε tablet, τα iPad κατά την ABI φέτος θα έχουν το 75% των tablet apps με το 17% για τις Android apps…
